Sports

As with any other injury, a detailed case history and examination helps to establish the root cause and mechanisms of your sports injury, whether it be due to a musculo-skeletal imbalance or a problem with technique for your particular sport.

'Rather than just treating the site of pain and discomfort, the aim with osteopathy is to take a more holistic approach and treat the person as a whole.'

Both Teri and Adam are active in their own sports and are skilled and experienced at treating sports injuries. Treatment consists of various osteopathic techniques which are aimed to restore health to the tissues involved by reducing inflammation and muscle tension and correcting imbalances elsewhere in the body. The treatment aims to rehabilitate you back to fitness so you may return to your sport as soon as possible.

Most sports injuries respond particularly well to modern acupuncture and may be utilized if the patient so wishes.

Pregnancy

As a baby grows many changes occur throughout a woman’s body during the 40 weeks gestation period, none more so than the spine. Occasionally, joints in areas as the spine and pelvis do not adapt well enough to these changes and aches and pains may ensue.

Many women have experienced the successful outcomes of osteopathic treatment whilst pregnant. Osteopathic treatment can be administered at any time throughout the pregnancy and as there are no drugs involved, there is no harm to the baby. The techniques used are adapted for the individual mother-to-be throughout the three trimesters.

Osteopathy may also be helpful following the birth of the baby in cases such as joint pain associated with pelvic imbalance, pain trauma to the coccyx joint or for advice on how to rehabilitate the back, stomach and pelvic floor muscles.
